San Francisco, CA, March 26, 2004 - IPSA International, Inc., a leading investigative and consulting firm, announced today that J. Michael di Pretoro has joined the San Francisco headquarters office as Managing Director. He will report to Jamie Keating, chief executive officer of IPSA. Prior to joining IPSA, Mr. di Pretoro, served for 30 years in the FBI followed by a senior security position at Goldman Sachs International, a leading global investment banking firm.

While at Goldman Sachs Mr. di Pretoro served as Regional Security Director at the firm’s London headquarters office as well as the ten regional offices, ranging from Paris, Frankfurt, Milan and Moscow to Jerusalem and Johannesburg. Mr. di Pretoro, who has extensive experience in counter terrorism, initiated new security programs and measures for the firm’s personnel in the higher risk locations such as Johannesburg, Jerusalem and Moscow.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Mr. di Pretoro served in a number of senior positions at the FBI, most recently as Deputy Assistant Director at FBI headquarters. In that post he supervised the legal attaché offices positioned around the world in various U.S. Missions and acted as the chief international liaison officer, on behalf of the FBI Director, with senior police and security officials. Mr. di Pretoro also handled several key international assignments for the FBI in Moscow, Hong Kong and the Philippines. He had the honor of being chosen to open and serve as the first FBI Legal Attaché assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, where he developed liaison relationships with Russian law enforcement agencies. And while serving in Hong Kong, he initiated the FBI’s relationship with the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Public Security. He was also the first person serving overseas to receive the prestigious Director’s Sustained Distinguished Service award for his achievements in the Far East.

“Michael has had a long and distinguished career in both the public and private sectors and will be a tremendous asset to our growing roster of clients,” said Mr. Keating. “We are delighted to have him join the IPSA team and look forward to working with him as we expand our presence in the San Francisco Bay area and beyond.”

Mr. di Pretoro earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Syracuse University and a Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).
