Craig N. Chretien

Craig Chretien recently completed an 18 month assignment for the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. As the Deputy Director of the Counter Narcotics Task Force he was responsible for providing counter narcotics program and policy guidance to the U.S. Ambassador, senior executives at U.S. Department of State, Drug Enforcement Administration, the National Security Council, USAID, NATO members, U.S. Military senior leadership, and senior executives from the international community operating in Afghanistan as well as to the highest levels of officials within the Afghan government.

As the former Vice President International Operations for IPSA, Craig was responsible for managing and developing markets and resources outside the United States.

Prior to joining IPSA, Craig spent more than 25 years with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) where he retired as the Assistant Administrator of Intelligence, one of the most senior positions within that agency. Prior to this position, he was responsible for all DEA foreign activities of 72 offices in 54 countries as the Chief of International Operations. Craig also held a senior executive position with a national alarm company and was responsible for operational coordination with local law enforcement.

Experience and Expertise

  • Held various domestic & foreign postings where he managed complex international narcotics & money laundering investigations.
  • Designed & implemented sensitive national security level intelligence programs.
  • Participated in an advisory capacity with the Council on Foreign Affairs on various matters of foreign policy.
  • A recognized expert in the field of foreign policy related to international narcotics trafficking, and has lectured frequently on this subject and participated in numerous senior level government and private forums on the matter.
