Robert L. "Beau" Hunter, IV
Director of Intellectual Property Investigations
Beau Hunter joined IPSA International, Inc. in January 2008 as the Director of Intellectual Property Investigations. He is responsible for directing multinational intellectual property (IP) investigations for industries and rights holders in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Prior to joining IPSA, Beau served as Manager of Intellectual Property Enforcement for Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC), where he created and managed several of ESA’s multinational hard goods and Internet IP enforcement programs for publishers of entertainment software products in North / South America and Asia. He has established civil enforcement programs for rights holders, supported multinational criminal investigations, managed intelligence gathering and civil undercover operations, managed anti-piracy retail sweeps and other investigative actions for various rights holders around the world.
Mr. Hunter is an internationally recognized expert on Intellectual Property brand protection and has been an advisor and educator on investigative issues to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, members of U.S. Congress, members of the U.S. Department of State, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada Border Services Agency, Interpol, Hong Kong Customs and Excise and other international government and trade groups. He has significant multi-cultural experience and is fluent in French.
Experience and Expertise
- Over eight years administration experience involving international IP enforcement program management and investigations
- Developed the online monitoring program and retail enforcement programs in various countries for the Entertainment Software Association and Entertainment Software Association of Canada
- International guest lecturer on IP rights protection, Internet security, counterfeiting and enforcement protocols for worldwide governing agencies, rights holders and trade groups
- Organized Crime and IP Piracy
- Investigating Internet Piracy
- Provided expert opinion/evidence pertaining to Intellectual Property piracy for criminal cases in North America and Hong Kong
